London (Part 2) .....finally

Wow...I took a really long break from my blog. I'm leaving France in a little less than 3 weeks, so I thought I should finish my London post so I can write a conclusion post before I leave. I don't know if anyone is still reading this anymore, but at least it will be a good way for me to remember my time in Paris. Anyway, here's more about London....

Yeah...so I don't really have much to say because I can't remember that much, but here are a bunch of pictures with minimal comments =P

We went to the London Zoo, which is where the scene when Harry talks to the snake in the first HP movie was filmed.

These turtles were huge and super cute!

Penguins!

An okapi apparently...never heard of it before?

The end of our day at the zoo =)

 Um....ok.....

Crazy street performers at Covent Garden!

Joe was a "volunteer" for this act....it was pretty bad (not Joe's fault of course ha ha)

This guy was AMAZING!

Globe Theatre

Me on Millennium Bridge (aka the one that gets blown up in HP 6...yes I'm a dork)

Self-explanatory....

I had to get a picture of a double decker bus, didn't I?

That's about it. Sorry for taking so long to finish this post. Stay tuned for a conclusion of my time in Paris.

London (Part I)

Hello! Sorry for the delay...I've been kinda crazy the past week or so. Anyway I wanted to recap my trip to London with my boyfriend!

We took the Eurostar (train between Paris and London- goes through the English Channel Tunnel) Sunday morning and came back Thursday night. We stayed at an interesting youth hostel, but had a ton of fun.

These are the beautiful stairs in our hostel. We were on the 5th floor, so there were a lot of stairs....

Front of the hostel...super classy right?

Random store down the street from our hostel....interesting marketing concept =P

Day 1

We arrived in London and changed our money (Euros to Pounds). London is super expensive! Especially for an American because a pound is worth almost 2 dollars. Crazy! Anyway....we found our hostel, dropped off our bags, and went to walk around in some of the awesome parks in London.

So cute! These birds had the right idea. It was actually pretty cold and windy when we were there.

 Cute again!

Joe told me there were pelicans, and this sign backs him up, but I still didn't see any....

There were tons of squirrels, but they weren't nearly as crazy as the Oxy squirrels.

Day 2

On Monday we went on a free walking tour of all the really famous stuff (Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, etc.). Our tour guide was super funny and even though we had both been to London and seen all this stuff before, the tour was really fun!

Obligatory picture of Buckingham Palace Guard....
(Last time I was in London there was a spot where you could go up and take a picture with them...I got scared half to death, but that's another story...but our tour guide told us that now they don't allow that any more because people were doing crazy stuff to the guards...apparently there are a bunch of youtube videos if you're interested ha ha)

Westminster Abbey (we didn't go in because it costs 16 pounds...insane!)

Protesters outside the houses of Parliament  (on the back of the big sign protesting war it says Will <3 Kate....go figure)

After a full day of sightseeing we went to see Shrek the Musical! I had wanted to see it for a while and Joe hadn't really been to a show like this before, so we were excited. The show was really fun and impressive, but the music definitely could have been better. The songs weren't super catchy, but besides that it was a really fun show and the cast was great!

That wraps up Sunday and Monday. I'll write a second post in the next couple days about Tuesday-Thursday.

Middle Ages Museum

Hey everyone! Just a quick post to share a couple pictures of the Musée national du Moyen Age (Middle Ages museum). Tomorrow morning I'm off to London for a few days! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and write a real post when I get back.

So Middle Ages museum....it was ok. It was much smaller than I expected it to be and super confusing to get around actually. There were no maps or signs really. My friend and I spent a confused 5 or 10 minutes wandering around checking if we'd seen everything at the end of our visit. Besides their organizational problems the museum was pretty interesting. It's in a super old building that fits in perfectly with the theme instead of a super modern typical museum building. Here's a picture of the outside.

 Super pretty, huh?

Here's one I took through the fence...still not very pretty...

The other cool thing about it was that they had a lot of new mixed with old, like this video projection on the wall. I thought it was a cool concept.

Here's some other cool pictures from the museum.

A whole room of stained glass! My favorite!

I love his sword with all the fleurs-de-lis!

Sorry for the short post! I'm off to London! Have a good weekend!

Walk like an Egyptian...

Really cheesy title I know....I apologize =P

So today I went to the Louvre again. I went there a couple months ago and stayed for a couple hours, but only saw one section of the museum. I decided that I needed to go back and see some more. I was super ambitious this morning, but I ended up only seeing one section again. =( The Louvre is soooo big!

Today I went to the Egyptian section. It was really cool! I'm not usually a big fan of Egyptian art, but I actually really liked it at the Louvre today. Not too much to say....so here are the pictures.

This is the wing with the Egyptian section

 Epic...

Fishing net

 Kitties!

I love this little sculpture for some reason!

 Love the color turquoise!

Perfect for a perfectionist like me!

 More turquoise!

This automatically made me think of Lost (even though there are two feet with five toes)...
....yes I'm a huge dork.

I have no idea what this book is or what it says, but it's pretty =P

Both cool and creepy...

So that's all of the Louvre I made it through today. Still much more of Paris to see...I have to start making a list! If you have any suggestions of things for me to do or pictures you would like to see let me know!
